Meet Evan S. Wetzler, DDS

Periodontist in Yorktown Heights, New York

Evan Wetzler grew up on Long Island, New York. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

Dr. Wetzler was a Dean’s List student at New York University College of Dentistry where he received his D.D.S. degree in 1986.

Diploma in hand, he was one of two dentists in the United States selected for a year long General Practice Residency in Dentistry at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Bronx, New York

Dr. Wetzler found special interest in Periodontics and Implants, so he returned to New York University College of Dentistry and completed a two year post-graduate specialty training program in Periodontics. The NYU program, which consists of only five candidates, is considered one of the best in the United States.

Dr. Wetzler maintains a very active presence in the dental community. He is the first Periodontist in Westchester to be licensed and trained to address periodontal disease using the PerioLase MVP-7 Nd:YAG laser, the WORLD’S ONLY FDA CLEARED (as of March 2016) laser to regenerate bone lost to periodontal disease.

In addition, he has been an assistant clinical professor in Periodontics at NYU College of Dentistry, teaching foreign trained dentists. He has held the positions of Vice-President and President of the Peekskill-Yorktown Dental Society and has lectured to other dentists and specialists in the Greater New York area.

Dr. Wetzler feels it is imperative to attend continuing education courses, far exceeding the minimum requirements, to keep current and informed in the rapidly expanding fields of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

He holds memberships in the following professional societies:

Additionally, Dr. Wetzler has been recognized by the NYS Dental Association for 1000 hours of Continuing Education and was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry which represents an accomplishment of over five hundred hours of continuing education.

He has also been voted “Top Dentist” in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry by his peer dentists in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 !

Out of the office, Dr. Wetzler is an avid sports fan. On his days off you can find him playing golf, watching football, perfecting his game of billiards and spending time with his wife and son.
